Yes, certainly two games doesn't predict the season. I can't speak to the structure, but I felt the first period vs Winnipeg was a good indication of what this team could be. Montreal was definitely hungrier and it sucks losing Marchand. Still, I can't help but still feel enthusiastic about our future. I'm not about to entertain the media's notion we're in a rebuild. We got a lot of young talented players and young veterans to keep this team going. They still have the opportunity.

I like looking at the standings at the moment... Habs at the top... B's in the basement

The biggest jolt of life will be a line besides the Krejci line getting going. They're going to switch it up a bit more now with Marchand out of the picture. But teams really only have to worry about the Krejci line right now.

We've had pretty much an ahl caliber defense through two games. Waiving Irwin is addition by subtraction, and Claude HAS to trust Colin Miller. IMO he's been the best Boston defender all through pre season and last night. I wanna see the B's role

Chara Miller
Krug Trotman
Morrow McQuaid

I think that's a group that could hold their own and not constantly turn the puck over. Maybe if the breakout finally started to work consistently the forwards would get more O zone time and not spend entire shifts chasing the puck

the blue line is rebuild mode, but the rest was just tinker. two games, i'm not ready to panic, i don't have superb expectations either.

Obviously its premature to call the season over after 2 games, but besides that first period against Winnipeg they have looked pretty dreadful. I think it is going to be a long season personally, they are relying on guys who have yet to put up consistent numbers in Hayes, Connolly and Belesky to be potent offensively. Chara and Seidenberg are not the same players they once were. Sure they would instantly be the 2 best defenders once they return, but thats not saying much when taking a look at who they have now. Even with a healthy Chara and Seidenberg they're still barely above average. But who knows, thats why they play the games.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!

You really think that an AGING DINOSAUR like Chara can make a difference? Think back to the 2013 SCF...that's right 2013 SCF...even then he was getting burned by quicker SMALLER players. What good is all of that size if you can't catch up to the player. They don't have a legit scoring line, they don't have a legit shut down defensive pair...they don't have ANYTHING. The Bruins will NOT make the playoffs this year...in fact they may be in the bottom 4 of the entire league.

Kind of like the Hawks when Pulford, and Bill Wirtz ran them.
Ask ANY Blackhawks fan, the NHL began in 2009, the league never existed before then

Did Marchand finish the game when he got his concussion?

I just heard about it I didn't actually see what happened.

Since he is my favorite non-Penguin here is to a speedy recovery.

He went to check Weiss from the side, and Weiss threw his elbow up.
Marchand kind of skated into it.

The D is atrocious and there is no depth. Chara has not looked good since 2013. He has always been slow and the injuries and his age have only made him that much slower, and he can't keep up with the smaller skilled players in the NHL.

I don't expect much from Seidenberg. Hopefully he will play well enough so we can trade him before the deadline.

The B's can't score and haven't been able too since they won the cup, and even then they weren't known for their offensive prowess.

Rask is a good goalie but he needs a much better D in front of to be able to shine.

Its going to be along year for the B's.

He skated straight to Weise elbow. He was holding his shoulder, i thought he dislocated his shoulder. He should've hold his head not his shoulder when he had concussion. He always hold the wrong body part. Without Lucic, Thornton and Chara, he is just afraid. He will return when Chara return.
